Ok For Beth
As a writer, and reader of rp these are who I like:
Jauk, Rile, Robert - all three of these because they can be so random and yet entertaining, and totally in keeping with their character. And I can never ever figure out what they are going to do next.
MavericksChild, ophelia, Damari, Nemesis, Bellina, LadyB, RoseBliven - all of these because though they can be complete basket cases at times (yes I said basket cases) but they can also be fun, mean, resentful, and sneaky. Now this may sound insulting, but it isn’t. It means they have flaws, and they are rp’d with flaws and having conflict. Nothing more boring to me, than perfect characters that never mess up. Characters that have issues, are by far more interesting to me than those that only portray the perfect side.
Verm - One of the most even keeled characters. There is more going on beyond the surface, and the casual onlooker doesn’t even realize it. All his rp’s tend to have a double meaning, and it’s a great read.
UnicornDream, Heimdag, evilive, EvilBill (pre-emobill), - All of these are great warriors, plotters and diabolical thinkers. I love to watch them.
Jaraak, Saohb, X-_, Torie_Shade - All these are gone from the game now, but each had a pivotal role that helped shape Shikon into who she is today.
Refugee, Roadwitch, illidan, Cunni, Moondreamer, Gaz, Siddy, CHASS - Well rounded characters, all had a specific something that made want to read them. Though illidan wasn’t much on writing, his rp was mostly on Yim.
Edit: OMG! I left off one of my mostest favorites! Smilner. He is just awesome.

Well, when Ash first posted this, she didn't give any examples or her own with it, and I took it to mean something entirely different.
My favorite vampires are Acheron (yes, we know he's a god, but yeah...), Kyrian of Thrace, Zarek, Talon, Michael Cyprien, Thierry Durand, Valentin Jaus, Wrath, Vishous, Zsadist, Bones aka Crispin, Carrie Ames, Cyrus... yeah, you can see where I was going.
I also refuse to play favorites, considering. I mean, I'm sure I'd hurt someone's feelings by leaving them off such a list just as I know mine are hurt with not being seen on someone else's.

To me, personally.. the whole point of this thread is to play favorites. Now what I didnt list, are the ones that I watch because they are so inept at subterfuge and intrique that its laughable. May they will start a 'who I hate and why' list =D

To me, personally.. the whole point of this thread is to play favorites. I know it's the point, which is why I won't do it. Because inevitably, someone's feelings will be inadvertently hurt.

You know, I don't think it's a matter of causing hurt feelings, as I've never seen that be an issue where I got the idea from, but it's a matter of recognizing those who you enjoy writing and interacting with. I know personally I've learned a lot about other players/writers via these means and it has helped me see them in a better light.
I cannot say how many times I've glanced at this thread when frustrated with a fellow player and been like "Yeah they annoy me, BUT they are good for this person. Everyone has a purpose."

Oh, and Kat, the reason I didn't post originally was I threw the thread up, and meant to...just got called away >.< No worries, wasn't trying to fault you for it or anything. And I guess maybe my skin just isn't as thick as other people's, because I really wouldn't be bringing it up if this thread hadn't already affected me thus far. *shrugs* But it also makes me wonder how much time I should be putting into writing some of the things I do for this game. Because either a) people think they're trash, and/or b) they don't care enough about my character to read it. Again, I'm just having a mopey moment about this thread. I'll stay out of it after this. Sorry if I've annoyed anyone.

i think in the future to prevent things like this, this sort of game should be made from the ooc point of view on what makes characters likeable to someone....thats the only solution i can think of.

Well, I think as a writer/RPer, we have to be ok with the fact that some people will HATE our chars. Some people will dislike our style of writing. Think our chars boring, yadda yadda yadda. No one should get hurt feelings over that.
You write, you put yourself out there. Of course people are going to have favorites. And hell, there's some chars I love to hate! It's part of the fun for me.

Yeah, after I wrote what I did I realized I should've clarified that the OOC part is also what bothers me largely. There are those that I consider friends who clearly don't consider me one. But again, to each their own, and I'm just sounding like I'm whining.
I've had Sherry Thomas critique my current WIP, you want brutally honest from a published writer, heh, she's it. I have no problems with critiques of my writing, and I welcome it. I think I'm just in a funk, guys, I'm sorry.

To clarify my post just in case.. I fully understand ans accept that I play an evil character that other people do not like her or me. It doesnt bother me, in a way I see it asa compliment that I play her well enough to evoke those feelings.
I have had people tell me they have issues with my character because she doesn't speak to them. Well she is not a social person. So some people assume Shikon is mad at them cause she doesnt chat. Even in the family, she is not chatty. There is a reason she speaks to someone, usually connected with a problem or a lesson she is teaching them.
But I digress, when someone icly dislikes my character, I love it. It means that I am playing evil well. And if someone ooc dislikes me, well that is their issue.
Realistically we all do not like each other equally; we do have our favorites. OH~ and another favorite I left off is Crep! Talk about a great evil sneaky mind.. Love Crep for that. Again.. digressed, sorry. So yea I have my favorites. Ic - it is a very short list. Ooc longer, but not everyone is equal to each other.
If I left someone off the ooc list, it could be an oversight on my part. OR it could be that, though I like them, they are not a favorite.
And all my favorites have a different spot in my favoriteness. Ex: ophelia reigns supreme at being able to frustrate Shikon like no other. Yes it kills Shikon, she wants to throttle ophelia half the time, but me the writer, cackles with amusement. I have had to drop out of character to laugh at what ophelia does to Shikon.
But I feel if you take the subject at what it says "favorites" not all 'likes' or 'friends', then people should realize they arent going to be on everyones list al the time.
And also, we should all remember what makes one character a favorite to one person, can be the very same thing that annoys another person about that character.

I had a list (short one) and then I thought.. why let anyone know who Shikon likes? It would just give them a big head. If they dont know if she likes them or not, good. Pfft this is an OOC thread...all information here is ooc knowledge only *nods*

Pfft this is an OOC thread...all information here is ooc knowledge only *nods* Yes, but there are those who would take such knowledge and use it IC. Take for example me telling another player in a hotel room, person to person that Lestat was going to take over Scions. Next thing I know, it was leaked everywhere. Now, I can't fault her because perhaps she went and told someone else OOCly and they took it back. That being the case, it's best to use caution and I can appreciate that. I think I'm in a funk because I'm about to turn 30, because I gained weight over Christmas when I was in Arkansas, and because my son is out of school and turning my hair gray beneath the dye job. Calgoooooon, take me awaaaaaay.
