It had been raining for a week and a half, but the storm seemed stronger then ever in what seemed an endeavor to flood RavenBlack City. The city felt bogged down and mopey during each turn of the Earth when the sun rose. The only solice was the night when street lamps reflected on the storm clouds making the darkest hours the best time to play. Feeling almost welcome in the world of sunlight, night creatures come from their shadows feeling tricked by the false light, but gleeful at walking through the city with a bright orange glow around it. The rain, a cleansing for the city, washing away the sins of decaying flesh, in some way a renewal for trouble souls. A troublesome nuisance to those with problem hair...
Kunna walked toward the club wrapped in her black cloak, her hood pulled tightly around her head to keep the frizz to a minimum. Taxi cabs and City Transit cars buzzed by undaunted by the weather. The sound of sloshing coming from her boots as she walked through large puddles on the sidewalk was drowned out by the sounds of the city. Kunna loved dwelling here, the hustle and bustle of shops and pubs where one could get any weapon or personal necessity one might need. The constant hum emitting from underneath only made it seem more alive, a jewel among vampires that sought for a flame to warm their dead hearts and fill the void they called a soul. This is where Kunna called home, and now she had to hurry or she was going to get locked out of the new bar that clung to her interest.
Upon arrival at the new club, Kunna could smell human blood inside. There would be easy pickins tonight. Humans never did learn very well to not go into bars during the peak harvesting hours. Removing the heavy rain soaked cloak and dropping it off with a coat check girl, Kunna walked into the main dance hall smiling, feeling a pulse inside she had never felt before. Already the scent of sweat, sex, lubricants and incense tingled her senses. The throbbing of the rave music intermingled with the laughter and conversation enjoyed by everyone in the building. There hadn't been any warring or mass inquisitions for sometime so Kunna felt comfortable in relaxing tonight. She doubted any problems could keep her from having a good time.
Kunna let the music flow into her body, letting everything go. Becoming one with the large crowd around her, latex rubbing against latex, hands touching each other exploring unfamiliar territory. Ecstacy building within the whole collective, massing into a frenzied union between dance and sex. In the midst of the crowd, Kunna sensed someone watching her. Looking around she spotted him. A young man, obviously human, slowly making his way over to her. He was ripped, but not a body builder, they were the worst, muscle was too tough to really get in a good bite to the jugular. This one looked just right, not too firm but not stringy like the many men she saw her friends take home. Kunna had her standards. She smirked at the thought. This one could even be take out. She enjoyed a nice meal after a night full of dancing.
"Did you just get here from Heaven, Angel?"
Kunna noted that his breath smelled of garlic and mint. By his first comment, she could tell he would not be missed by any sane person in the city. She almost pitied the idiot, but felt it her duty to rid RBC of such stupid bastards such as this.
"Apparently I fell to Earth for you," Kunna replied. She hated demeaning herself to such a level as responding to such an ignorant presentation, but degradation of entering a conversation with a human must be succumbed if she were to eat, and tonight she would drink her fill.
After exchanging names, some continued conversation, and after a few strong drinks, Kunna's ignored hunger pains got the better of her. Inviting the man to her home they both retrieved their cloaks and headed to the club exit. Kunna put her hand on the man's arm allowing him to 'escort' her from the club. Returning outside, Kunna noticed other pires walking around with humans, some even accompanied by two or three. She even sensed a few of her brethren in alleyways, their arms wrapped around a useless human, draining them of their life source. Kunna had never felt empathy for the creatures. They had always just been a source of food and nourishment for her, even before her turning. Being a demon, Kunna used humans as entertainment, food, and slaves, she had never seen them as anything different and never would.
Feeling a hand work its way to her ass, KUnna grabs it slowly and pulls the man into the entrance of a closed flower shop. Pressing him into a corner, Kunna kissed him deeply pulling his arms around her. Looking up at him Kunna's eyes flicker red and sher fangs grow to animalistic length. The human's eyes grew large in fear as he watches the transformation.
"Wha...What the hell..." the man stutters out being held there in the corner.
"To humans, hell is a concept...for me...hell is HOME!!!" Kunna's replies ina low growl as she lunges at him biting into his neck. The soft aroma of roses and dandelions from the store reached her nostrils mixing with the taste of iron and salt. Kunna put an arm around the man's neck pressing her mouth deeper into the warm vein drinking to her fill. Dropping the empty corpse onto the wet concrete, she looked at it thinking about the designs the rain was making on its skin as it rolled off into small red puddles on the ground.
Turning around wiping her mouth, Kunna suddenly felt a slight twinge in her left shoulder. Looking down she sees a bolt protruding out. Pulling it out, she could sense a great amount of energy escape with the silver bolt head. Wincing slightly, Kunna looks up coming eye to eye with a vampire hunter. She was surprised at how sudden his appearance was and why she hadn't sensed him take his aim.
Another bolt whistled by as Kunna flew towards the hunter. Two more bolts pierced into each of her legs, knocking her back suddenly. Snarling in pain she reached down placing a hand on each bolt shaft letting out a scream of frustration and anger as she yanked them out. In one movement, hardly seen by the human eye, Kunna grabbed for her dagger she kept in an ankle sheath. Pouncing on the hunter, Kunna removes his head with one swipe of her blade. The hunter's corpse disappears in a green haze of energy that seemed to crackle in the humidity.
"Why the hell did he do that? What was he? Obviously not completely human." Kunna wondered as she rubbed her wounds and grimaced.
The city seemed empty suddenly, Kunna noted as she walked block to block back towards her home. That warm buzzing sound seemed like a distant memory, as if the city had suddenly been switched off. Kunna lifted her hand to her forehead feeling slightly woozy. Her shoulder and legs felt tingly from her wounds that weren't healing. A strange sensation seemed to sweep over Kunna. Her mind racing, What had she been shot with?
Kunna began to feel very dizzy and stops to res, but falls onto one knee as she tries to regain her balance. Her whole body feeling as if it had been hit with an empty energy. Kunna thought for a second, " Those bolts must ahve been poisoned." As everything turned black, Kunna falls to the wet sidewalk hitting her head just as the sky burst once more with rain....
