She wondered. Wondered and wondered, if the one who had bought her the wine would follow. And if they did, which one would it be? It didn’t matter really who, they were just a distraction. Something to ease the pains of her heart. As she walked, Mav thought of her recent months. She turned each night over in her mind and pondered how things could have gone different.
Who would she be now, if they had? It didn’t matter, did it? She couldn’t go back in time. Funny that, a vampire wishing to distort time, when that’s all they had. Endless and miserable time. Mav stopped walking. She didn’t want to get too far from the Tavern. She wanted that one person to find her. She hoped and wished for it. She sat down on stone bench. She had stopped maybe three blocks from the Tavern, in a small cobbled square. She had been here before once before.
An image of a handsome man and a young human girl flashed before her eyes. Her eyes dropped down to her lap and she pushed the image of him laughing from her mind. She had sat in the very spot before, watching ants. Why had she stopped here? The large fountain was now turned off. No sound of water tickled her ears. Just silence.

He got out of the tavern, in hurry and anger, then stopped to let his eyes adjust to the darker night. The breeze was cold and helped cooling his thoughts. He had been kind, sending a bottle to a lonely one, in hopes she’d eventually join them, and she had disappointed him twice, first with her leaving half the bottle on the table and vanishing, then with her promises of something he was not the kind of person to accept. He had to confront her and tell her he would not be mistaken for any such vampires.
Carefully, black_dragonet lowered his head to the ground and searched for tracks. Growing in the country, he had had to learn reading the earth and sky until they told him whatever he needed to know. There were some recent tracks of someone with a long dress walking away or to the tavern, so he followed, shaking his head while his mind played the words “I shall thank you when next we meet, and it will be with something sweeter than wine”.
His thoughts were so off that he almost didn’t recognise her when he found her. She was just sitting on a stone bench, hidden in plain sight, seemingly lost in her thoughts too. black_dragonet approached and tossed her the ball he had crushed in his hand to her. I guess you’re the one who wrote me that… I fear you mistook me for a kind of vampire I can and would never be… I’m not one who buys drink to women to get into their good favours or skirts. Who do you think I am? Besides, you did not even finish that bottle. What’s wrong with you?

Her dark eyes looked up when she heard a mans voice. Curious. She wouldn’t have thought he’d be the one. Even as he spewed his self righteous speech, thoughts began to form. Why did he go on so? Why did he mention skirts and favors? Hmm. What -was- wrong with her? She really needed another drink of bloodwyne. Why hadn’t she brought it with her? They flitted through her mind, exiting as fast as they came.
“ I have no clue who you are. Everything is wrong with me. I could give a damn less what you do for favors or skirts. I am just regretting not finishing that bottle as we speak and you know, the more defensive you are, the more you deny being -that- kind of male, the more I think you are.” She spoke with a sharp undertone.
“Are you ready for your thank you now?” Mav stood from the bench, her eyes locked to the man.

As black_dragonet’s words left his mouth, he was surprised. She did not look like the ones who had flung at him on the rare occurrences he would visit the ghetto. He had not rally looked at her in the tavern, for lack of light and time. She was indeed beautiful, but not that obviously appealing look and clothing that quickly got to his nerves. Yet, the thought of a free and gracious offer for a bottle of bloodwine being rewarded by more than a courteous thank you and/or joining his table had irritated him to no end. Her expression was puzzling too, actually as puzzled at his word as puzzling to him. Then her face darkened some more, and she spoke. As black_dragonet listened to his words, he got amazed at her expression. She was angry ! and that anger was directed at him ! She told him he was defensive and in her anger took him exactly for what he’d been accusing her to be. She finished her diatribe with a very angry look and a rise, locking her eyes to his « are you ready for your thank you now ».
Black_dragonet could not help but smile at the absurdity of the situation, and actually, he liked it, liked absurdity to no end… His soft smile slowly fading, he replies « No »…
No, I am not ready to get you slap me, which, if you remember is not as sweet as bloodwine, though sweeter than the bottle itself. No, I am just not that kind of male, more like the one to slap anyone thinking I am or I think is, just like you, as it seems. No, I have no wish to fight with you. *can’t resist the smile coming back to hi slips* No, I didn’t bring the rest of the bottle with me.
Since you’re now the angry one, and I’m now the surprised one, and since you got up, I guess it’s my turn to sit and look lost, isn’t it ? *sits at the very place the lady has vacated* Aaaand, what do we do now ?

Mav gave a soft, closed mouth laugh. Did he think she was the type to merely slap a man? Pity he was so mistaken. For him anyways. “Said it would be sweeter. Not necessarily sweeter for you.. Your fault for assuming.” Mav didn’t take her eyes from him. She watched for subtle details. The flick of a finger. Shift of legs. If she were in his position, she’d idly speak as well, and strike when defenses were down with conversation.
“You have no wish to fight with me.. Now.. But you did? Why follow me here then? You have the façade of a genteel man, yet, you were ready to “show” me weren’t you?” She began to laugh a little but more hearty now, this too was short lived.
She continued to examine his face. The shape of his nose. The color of his eyes. He reminded her of someone. Not only in the mannerisms that he was showing, but sheer looks. A name stood alone in her mind. AmadisdeGaula. The corner of her mouth twitched slightly. Almost as if she was going to smile, but she just couldn’t manage it. Her mind told her, that this man, could not be him. But she knew, that Amadis had been called Darkkweaver in another time. She didn’t know if he had looked different then. But there was always the possibility.
~Mother. I need your opinion on something. Please come. And before you say no… I’m being polite!~ MavericksChild sent the telepathic message to Shikon. She knew, just the small fact that she was being nice in her asking, would alarm Shi enough to come.
“I’m sorry, I don’t recall asking if you had brought the bottle.” Mav sucked her lips against her teeth as she watched him sit on her stone bench. "I know! Lets play a game.. you give me coin.. I might answer.. 500 a question.. deal?" She raised a brow at him and waited for him to either answer, or Shikon to arrive.

Shikon coalesced on the corner where she had sighted Mav, and started immediately speaking to her “You lucky I am in a good mood.” She then glanced at the male and then back at Mav “You drunk again?!” She sighed one of those long suffering sighs.
“Only the weak and fool hardy drink in public. Fool hardy, yes.. you can be.. but weak? I never thought this about you. Maybe I change my opinion now hmm?” said in a very disappointed tone. “Drink dulls your senses. It slows your reaction times. You know this. Yet you persist in this reckless behavior. You are being self-destructive. I will not let this happen. You remember last time..” She let the sentence linger in a half threat.
Shikon then looked over the male that seemed bemused, sitting on a stone bench. She pondered speaking to him, but honestly at this point, he seemed like nothing more than cursory window dressing. More than likely this male was the reason that the Beast called her. But in truth he didn’t look that threatening or amorous. So it seemed a safe presumption that the beast being drunk, read more into a situation than was actually there. She returned her look to Mav.

black_dragonet's amused gaze still locked with the woman's he carefully studies her face for indications about her state of mind. Earlier, she had told him that everything was wrong with her. He didn't know if it was because of whatever much she might have drunk or inherent to her, but she seemed edgy, and angry. She did not seem to be of a steady mind, yet there was no doubt she was completely lucid, and quite much concentrated.
black_dragonet had purposely exchanged places with her to make a point of his not wanting to be a threat towards her, yet his muscles were very much at the ready, him having drunk nothing but blood until now. His smile widens as she tells him he shouldn't have assumed, as he realises that his anger was one without a real cause, seing how far her thoughts are from what he feared they would be.
*tilts head* You and I have that in common then maybe... assuming too much. I wanted to confront you, yes, of course, but why would I have needed to use some kind of threat or violence when I could just ask for an explanation. Regarding that bottle, well, I just said that slapping me I felt to not really be sweeter than bloodwine, though sweeter than hitting me with the bottle of bloodwine, which I didn't bring with me for you to hit me with. Was it really that awful? *grins*
*shrugs and sobers* You know, I've come to think that my anger towards you had no real cause, beyond my own assuming, and that yours probably has the same cause as mine... I can't say I totally enjoy being in your shoes, since I don't really fit in, but I find great fun in that stupid situation.
Anyway *shakes head, his gaze still locked with hers.* I can't offer your offer of money for questions. Knowledge and wisdom are things I have happened to part with, but I have never been asking, nor asked for any money in return. I have another offer. You ask a question, I ask a question, neither answers if they don't want to.
As he finishes speaking and replies, black_dragonet becomes aware that someone new has arrived, an asian-looking woman that clearly is not human and looks at them with an encompassing gaze. *casts a quick side glance and acknowledges her with a quick bow of the head as their eyes briefly cross*

Mav waited calmly as her mother ranted and squawked on her arrival. Mav also waited patiently as the man spoke and went on. She sighed. So much waiting. It really wasn’t her style. She was a do-er! A go getter! Yet, she mastered waiting and silence like a Buddhist monk practically. And finally when both had quieted, Mav gave a side long glance to her mother, then she looked back to the man. She made an out right choice to ignore not only everything the man said, but all of her mother’s accusations too. There simply was no point in addressing them.
“Who does he look like? Or remind you of? I’m curious to see if you think the same as I do.” She smiled and addressed Shikon. It seemed that the waiting she had just done, did well to calm her anger at the man. Or maybe it was the situation.

“Who does he look like? Or remind you of? I’m curious to see if you think the same as I do.”
“At first I thought Smilner had dragged himself out of his drug induced stupor.. but then I heard the voice.. far to pompous and self righteous to be him. So.. this one your next conquest? Eh..” her tone was unimpressed.
'Smilner?' Mav gave her mother a double take. Where the hell had she pulled -his- name from? "What?! No! Smilner?!" Mav shut her mouth for a moment. She was actually really stunned. " No.. no. I don't know this man. He came after me, but that's besides the point." Mav still had a slightly bewildered tone to her voice.
"You asked.. I do not go around studying strange men. Why does it matter? So you just met him.. why am I here?"
Mav gave her head a small shake. " He does remind me of someone. Before Smilner. Someone who left the city abruptly.. Something about him screams -him-" She looked directly at the man again and smiled.
"Not bone head?" She rolled her eyes and sighed in a long suffering manner. She honestly could not even remember that one's name. Just that Mav carried the rotting skull with her for weeks. "He is dead. It is not him." She was not in the mood to walk.. or waltz down memory lane. "I thought you needed something.. apparently.. I wrong."
"hmm. you're right. It can't be him. I did need something. WHY are you so hateful all the time!? Can't you just BE in my presence without a real necessity?!"
Shikon counted. The Beast was being needy again. She forced herself to be sweet. “Aw.. is my little Beast missing me..?” Yes the words and tone was sweet.. but there would be repercussions. Just what.. and when.. that would remain to be seen.
Mav grinned at the volitile little Asian woman. "Of course I missed you. But that's niether here nor there. Hm. So not Amadis. It was just an odd feeling that I had. " Mav turned and waved her hand absentmindedly as she did so. " I will mention though, that this one wanted to fight. But he seems to have calmed a little."
Shikon nodded slowly. She always did love a good fight. “Pity…” She glanced at the male, then back at Mav. “So.. what now then? Marshmallows by fire?” her tone still quite sweet.
"Well I owe him a thank you I do believe. But if you happen to have some marshmallows on you at the moment. Maybe we could set him on fire and have a nice Hag/Beast moment?" Her smile brightened a bit.
Shikon faked a grimace. “I left them in my other coat. So sad. I shall leave now, as I will not be able to face your disappointment.”

*rises and bows to the newcomer* Well, if you’re leaving now, you’ll miss a lunch, but it would be a poor one anyway, since there’s quite nothing to eat on me, I’m all bones *laughs*, but it would mostly have me miss meeting you. I don’t really have the pleasure to know you, nor your friend actually. Yes, the pompous self righteous prick would like to meet the mean hags and beasts… Maybe they could bring some fun to his life… Or not. I’ve always been a curious vampire, and there is something about you that’s… interesting. There’s definitely substance in you, even though there’s also something you lack quite much, I’d say.
Oh, and I’m no Amadis, nor Smilner, nor “This one”. “This one” is called black_dragonet, and he doesn’t now who “these ones” are.

Mav looked to Shikon with a delighted grin on her face. “Why…. I think he’s got you pegged! You ARE lacking! AAAAH-HAHAHA!” She quieted abruptly, then looked back at the man. “ Hello black_dragonet. My name is Beast. This is Hag, like I had mentioned before. She’s not very pleasant. Unlike myself… Although you started us off on the wrong foot, if I do say so myself. “ Mav walked herself in a small circle, before stopping in front of the man again.
“You should really try choosing what side you are on. The side of civility? Or the side of brutal and unnecessary smack downs.” Mav pursed her lips and began another small circle. She watched the ground as she did so, marveling on how the coble stones looked much closer. “ Am I lacking too black_dragonet?! Hm? Do you think?”
