"Yeah yeah yeah, family is so important to you and they are never alone, and yet that is exactly how I found your daughter. Alone. No other family with her, no sire, nothing. I could have taken her then and there should I have chosen to do so. It has nothing to do with me working up the nerve, for I have more than enough of that for myself and ten others. Big deal if all of them show up and you too. All that says to me is that they can't fight their own battles, that they have to have family come to their aid because they don't know how to fight back." My mind was torn between what Lasc was saying and the sudden thought that Kathryn was right, Lasc should have known that just because she found my daughter alone at the time didn’t mean she was really alone, scrolls and potions would bring all the girls to her in seconds and she knew it… She was also using the same tactic of trying to shame me into letting a childer die just to be able to say my daughter stood on her own against a bigger vampire… Pointless because no one in this city knew how to fight on their own… But Lasc stuck her foot in her mouth and I was going to cram it the rest of the way in…
Kathryn went limp in my arms and suddenly Lasc lunged at me, shoving me hard… I let loose my hold on Kathryn and grabbed the hand she used to push me, 2000 years of training kicked in, turning slightly with my leg extended it was a simple trick to trip Lasc… I guided her fall, causing her to land on top of her sire, and then I jumped back to distance us…
[glow=red,2,300]“You have two choices little girl…”[/glow]
I smirked as I said this…
[glow=red,2,300]“And either one of them works in my favor… You can attack me again, in which case you will see just how unprepared you are to face someone like me, and your sire will bleed out and die while we go at each other… Or you can suck it up and save her, in which case I can come for her again later when you are not around to stop me… If a fight is what you want, and a one on one fight at that, then let her die and in short order I will help you join her... I'm right here little girl... You talk the talk but can you walk the walk?”[/glow]
I watched her close to see if the situation was sinking in…
[glow=red,2,300]“Either way, I get what I want…”[/glow]
I laughed… Already knowing what she would do… There was no way to attack me and save her sire… She could of course save her sire and attack me, but the blood I had taken from Kathryn had made the odds of her winning a fight against me a little less likely…
[glow=red,2,300]“Be a good girl and do as I say… Save your sire for me…”[/glow]

As the darkness consumed Katastrophe she was vaguely aware of the voices of Mal and Lasc, but there was no way for her to react to them, her body becoming near lifeless in appearance. The severe blood loss and the extreme rate at which it was lost made it impossible for her to do anything, not even speak or open her eyes.
She felt her body go limp in Mal’s arms and felt him tighten his arms around her for just a moment before he let her go and she landed in a heap on the ground. It wasn’t long after that she felt a pressing weight above her. She was powerless.

Lascivious landed on top of Kat with a bone jarring thump which caused her to bite her tongue. Cursing silently as blood filled her mouth, she rolled off of Kat. Quickly she bent low, using the blood filling her mouth to seal the wound on her sire, crouching protectively beside her as she looked up at him, her eyes burning with anger and a snarl curling her lip.
“You have two choices little girl…”
“And either one of them works in my favor… You can attack me again, in which case you will see just how unprepared you are to face someone like me, and your sire will bleed out and die while we go at each other… Or you can suck it up and save her, in which case I can come for her again later when you are not around to stop me… If a fight is what you want, and a one on one fight at that, then let her die and in short order I will help you join her... I'm right here little girl... You talk the talk but can you walk the walk?”
“Either way, I get what I want…”
“Be a good girl and do as I say… Save your sire for me…”
Lascivious was torn, take Kat somewhere and hide her away and let the bastard go, or let Kat lie there near death and go after him. She knew time was short and a decision needed to be made quickly. She closed her eyes and lowered her head seemingly in defeat.
"I would sooner let her die here and now, than save her from you and have you continue to torment, stalk and harass her making her miserable. You save her, without her, you cannot sate your appetite. Ever. You will know an eternity of thirst for the one whose blood you will not be able to have. All of it your own doing."
"Now, the choice is yours. Save her and you'll have access to her blood. Let her die and go mad. Save her and you'll have an eternity to torment her. Hell, maybe you should just bind to each other as partners. What greater way to torment her than have her stuck with you for the rest of her unlife? It seems it would benefit you more to do that. That is what unlife is about is it not? Doing what you want, taking what you want for your own?"
With that, Lascivious picked up Kat, gently cradling her petite form, struggled to her feet and stepped toward him. Kat's body dangled limply in her arms. Her long hair fell in a golden wave, her head hanging back exposing her smooth, lightly tanned neck. Lascivious held Kat's body out to him as if making an offering, searching his face for a sign of affirmation or denial.
"Save her, and I shall owe you. I always keep my word, even when I have no wish to do so. My word is my honor."

Lasc gathered Kathryn’s limp body in her arms and got to her feet… Taking a step towards me she held the body out to me as if giving me some present… I took a step back… This was not the way it was supposed to go, she needed to do what I said and save her… I could feel the draw Kathryn’s limp form was having on me, and all I could think about was drinking from her again… Tasting the sweetness of her blood as I held her close… I didn’t care if it killed her as long as I could drink from her, but killing her would not end the need, it would still be there but if she died then she would not be around to sate the thirst… "Save her, and I shall owe you. I always keep my word, even when I have no wish to do so. My word is my honor."
[glow=blue,2,300]“You don’t get it…”[/glow]
I took another step away from her as if she was holding a box of Holy Water about to throw it on me…
[glow=blue,2,300]“I saved her once, and that was a total accident… I don’t care if you owe me… And right now I don’t care if she dies…”[/glow]
I lied… I did care, loosing her blood forever would be devastating… But I would live… Saving her would be giving in to the need for her, and that was something I would never do… I could never loose control like that…
[glow=blue,2,300]“Let her die then… If your not going to save her maybe we should sit back down in the swings and watch her final moments… Because if you give her to me I will finish her… I wont be able to stop… And I don’t want to stop… So in doing so you will be killing her… If your OK with that then let me have her and you can leave…”[/glow]

Katastrophe teetered on that edge of oblivion. This was not some excessive burning of her flesh that would leave her skin scarred for a week or two during which time she’d have to have help feeding. No, this was an exsanguination the likes of which a vampire like Katastrophe would not be able to recover from. It was clear that her human-like qualities made her somewhat of a novelty, but it also meant that she had limitations. If her heart completely stopped, it would not likely start again with great ease.
The droning beat of that vital organ was slowing and the voices she was hearing near her were growing quiet. She was dying.

Lascivious watched him back away from her and Kat, almost as if they had the plague or some secret weapon with which to foil him. She searched his face once more, seeing a flicker of something in it as he spoke. She stepped toward him again, holding Kat out to him, then thought better of it. With disdain and bitterness she spoke to him.....
"You're a coward and a liar. If you didn't care, you would not be here still, that makes you a liar. You won't kill her or save her, that makes you a coward."
"You shall not have her today. I'll not let her death be due to the fact that I stood by and did nothing. If she dies, it won't be because I didn't do everything in my power to save her. Damn you to hell for ever laying a hand on her."
Lascivious turned to go, feeling Kat's heartbeat slowing. Knowing that time was of the essence now, She set Kat down gently on the grass. Kneeling beside her, Lascivious bit into her wrist, ripping the flesh away and spitting it to the side while her blood flowed copiously from the gaping wound. Quickly she titled Kat's head back, causing her mouth to open slightly and put her bloody wrist to Kat's mouth. Lascivious felt her blood rush out of her into Kat's mouth, fearing Kat's would begin to choke and possibly drown on the one thing that might very well save her, she stroked Kat's throat to cause her to swallow. A natural reflex in any creature as she had once learned. She spoke to her sire not caring if he heard her words or not.
"Come on Kat, swallow, drink, do something damnit! Just don't die!"
She continued to stroke Kat's throat firmly, sending a silent plea to her sire to come back from the edge of oblivion.

Lasc laid Kathryn down and bit her own wrist, letting the blood flow into Kathryn’s mouth… "Come on Kat, swallow, drink, do something damnit! Just don't die!" Lasc said, as if by commanding Kathryn she would some how make it so…
[glow=red,2,300]“You misunderstood what it was I wanted little girl… It’s not that I cant kill her, or that I cant save her… It’s about getting to do what I wanted…”[/glow]
I stood silent, waiting for Kathryn to come back around… My hand reached inside my pocket and wrapped around an item… I knew when Kathryn was out of danger Lasc would turn her attention back to me, and I was ready to handle her most quickly…

As he wandered thru the city streets searching for humans he found himself on Katastrophe's street once again, as he walked past her house he stopped, looked up at the dark windows and hoped she was well. He had hurt her, and it was the one thing that he had done in his long life that he truly felt sorry for. Reaching inside his coat he felt the pocket that contained her final gift to him, a braided lock of her golden hair, and it gave him an idea.
Speaking to himself, something he was in the habit of doing lately, looking down the street. "A park, yes, a quiet park is what I need."
Walking into the trees he found a small clearing among them, taking the braid of hair from his pocket, leaving the gold ring he carried there always, he tied the braid around his left wrist.
Kneeling in the dirt he began to twist the braided hair in his fingers as he mumbled words in the ancient language of his gypsy ancestors.
The hair began to glow with a golden light as it was transformed into a braided golden bracelet, one continuous circle with no beginning and no end, that could only be removed if his hand was severed from his arm.
The smell of burning flesh drifted up from Arias' left wrist as the magic burned an imprint of Katastrophe's braid into his flesh, instantly healing, leaving a brand that would never fade.
He smiled at the unexpected pain, savoring the feeling. Knowing they could never be together again because of his chosen path but he would always love her and now he would carry this reminder with him always.
Standing, he looked around then turned and walked deeper into the park, content to be alone.
As Arias comes to the edge of a large clearing with swings in it he senses that he is not alone in this park, walking slowly he stands under a large tree, hidden in its shadow, and observes what he has happened upon.
He sees Lascivious holding Katastrophe in her arms, attempting to get Kat to take blood from her wrist. Kat appears to be unconscious. Standing on the opposite side of them is a Vampire Arias does not know.
“You misunderstood what it was I wanted little girl… It’s not that I cant kill her, or that I cant save her… It’s about getting to do what I wanted…”
Arias listens to the pire speak to Lasc and can tell that this is an ancient creature with much power who is accustomed to getting what he wants.
Arias did not move, he simply stood there, twirling the bracelet on his left wrist with his right hand, watching, waiting to see just what was going to happen next.

I felt the presence of another vampire… Looking around I tried to find the location of it… Second Sight was useless with out a name or general idea of who it might be… I looked at Lasc and Kathryn… It would have been nice to finish this out, but the party had grown a little large for my liking… Some vampires just didn’t know it wasn’t polite to just hang around… It should have left the same way it came, but I guess that would have worked out to perfect for me, and I of all people knew that nothing ever went the way I wanted it to…
[glow=blue,2,300]“We have company… And it seems like they intend to hang around… I will be seeing you soon… Very soon…”[/glow]
I pulled a scroll from my other pocket and the world faded out… The trees reformed around me… I hadn’t gone far… Just far enough to be out of sight… It would also make it easier to do what I was good at… Hunt… I scanned the darkness… It was only a matter of time before I found what I was looking for…

As the blood trickled past her lips and down Katastrophe’s throat, she became awash in sensations. The blood went straight to her stomach and then out through the veins that had connected there upon her transformation. The veins led the fresh blood to her heart and it began pumping wildly as it was fed with the speed and fervor of a racehorse leaving the gate as the gun is fired. She gasped as some of it trickled into her lungs and she shot straight up, some of the blood sputtering out of her mouth as she tried to gasp for air. It was then that her brain started piecing together things her senses were picking up.
Katastrophe had two sensations warring in the pit of her stomach, tugging at her heart and neither of them had anything to do with the blood she was taking in. The first was a new tingle that she was still becoming familiar with and not one that she wanted to admit she noticed. It was Mal’s presence, the vibe of his closeness—or lack of it—thrumming like a hummingbird’s wings, so soft but very strong. The other was all too familiar to her but it was a feeling she was trying to stop sensing because of the pain it brought her; Arias was nearby. Her eyes flew open and she looked all around, trying to figure out what was going on. She’d have asked, but her mouth was too busy trying to decide whether or not to swallow the blood, choke on it, or spit it out.
Her mouth may not have been cooperating, but her mind was working fine. Her eyes caught her childe’s. “Where is he?” she asked Lasc telepathically.
Katastrophe didn’t specify who she was asking about, nor did she really want to. It pained her to think of putting one of the males before the other. Her mind was battling, the proverbial devil and angel sitting on her shoulders, each with a differing opinion on who should be more important of those two vampires. One loved her and always would, the other probably never would. One craved her in ways she could only imagine, and the other no longer felt that pull. The agony it put her in far outweighed any pain she was in from the blood loss she had undergone.

“You misunderstood what it was I wanted little girl… It’s not that I cant kill her, or that I cant save her… It’s about getting to do what I wanted…”
Lascivious kept her eyes and mind on the task at hand, trying to saving her sire, taking but a moment to respond to him.
"Go to hell buddy. In my eyes, you're nothing better than some common pervert who uses others for his needs and pleasure."
"As to whether or not you are a coward and a liar, again, tis my opinion that you are both."
Lascivious worked on Kat with a single-mindedness that shut out everything else until she heard him speak again. Feeling annoyed at the sound of his voice, she tried to tune him out unsuccessfully.
“We have company… And it seems like they intend to hang around… I will be seeing you soon… Very soon…”
Startled by his departing statement, Lascivious watched him vanish. Cautiously she pushed out with her senses hoping it would not be another foe. Her hopes were answered as she felt the presence of her brother Arias. She wondered why he had stayed hidden, but then thought that perhaps it was for the best that he had done so as Kat was clearly in no condition to deal with either male right now. Lascivious felt comforted knowing Arias was close by. Now if only Kat would just respond in some way. She sighed, hoping she had made the right choice, hoping her sire would not be angry with her for calling the male names, insulting him, and letting him get away.
Suddenly, she heard her sire gasp as she shot up into a sitting position. Lascivious heart sang with gladness as relief flooded through her. She had been unsure if she would be able to bring her back from the brink on which she had been hovering and as such was doubly glad to see her efforts had not been for nothing.
"Drink Kat, enough to get your strength back at the very least. I don't rip into myself for just anyone you know."
Lascivious smiled at her as she said that. Inside she was wincing from the sting of the wound she had inflicted on herself, but she'd be damned if she was going to let her sire know it hurt. She continued to hold the wrist to Kat's mouth until Kat decided she had had enough.
“Where is he?” she asked Lasc telepathically.
Instinctively her first thought was to say he left, thinking Kat was talking of the offending male. Something inside Lascivious knew that if she was able to sense Arias in spite of them having no blood tie, then Kat surely sensed him as well. With a sigh she answered telepathically seeing no need to voice anything at this moment since she was unsure of who could hear her.
"Arias is in the forest, he seems to be staying back for now. As for your former sire, he seems to have left, although I am sure he is probably not far from here."

“We have company… And it seems like they intend to hang around… I will be seeing you soon… Very soon…”
Hearing the pires words, Arias watched as he vanished, only to reappear back in the trees, hiding.
Quickly deciding he was not in the mood to play the hunting game with this unknown pire Arias stepped out of the shadows of the trees and walked slowly to the place where Katastrophe and Lasc were sitting. As he walked around to face them he could sense the pire in the trees watching him now and he smiled to himself. He stood in front of them both, looking at them he whispered so quietly that only the two lady pires could hear, "Your friend in the trees seems to be fond of playing games, someone should inform him that I am not."
Kneeling down he layed his left hand on Kat's hand. Speaking in a normal voice he said, "I am not here to cause you more problems, Kitten, I was wandering thru this park when I came upon you very much by accident."
Reaching inside his coat he pulled out the silver flask Lasc had given him, now empty, uncapping it he took his left hand away from her, held the flask in his right hand as he bit into his left wrist, holding the flask under the wound his blood dripping off of the gold bracelet into the flask. When the flask was full to the top he replaced the cap and handed it to Lasc. "Give her this, it will help heal her, and I suggest you teleport her somewhere safer for I fear that her friend will return as soon as I am gone." Looking back at Katastrophe he linked to her telepathicly, "Kitten, I sense this is a battle you must fight for yourself but if you ever need me for anything I will be there for you." Looks back at his sister. "Lascivious, you know that any attack on you is an attack on me. Call me if you need me. "
Standing, Arias looked towards the place where he sensed the unnamed pire, smiled an evil smile, turned back to his sister and her sire. "Goodbye, for now."
Arias walked back in the direction he had came, intentionally turning his back on the unnamed pire, when he was halfway back to the trees he waved his hand and vanished into a flash of black flame.

"Arias is in the forest, he seems to be staying back for now. As for your former sire, he seems to have left, although I am sure he is probably not far from here."
She nodded at the response, and once she felt strong enough, Katastrophe gave a sealing lick to Lasc’s wrist and pushed it away. She licked the blood from her lips, her mouth finally ready and able to form words. “Thank you, dear,” she said, smiling at her beloved childe.
Katastrophe looked off in the direction of where she sensed Arias, and like a vision, he stepped forth through the trees and came over to her and her childe. He was a giant of a vampire as it was, but towering over them from a standing height while they both sat, he was enormous.
"Your friend in the trees seems to be fond of playing games, someone should inform him that I am not." He said, placing his left hand over hers.
Katastrophe looked down at the hand that covered hers and noticed a gold bracelet around his wrist. It caught her attention because it was a braided band, braided in the same way as the length of hair she’d cut from the nape of her neck and given to him. A hidden section of hair that no one would ever notice was missing.
"I am not here to cause you more problems, Kitten. I was wandering thru this park when I came upon you very much by accident."
She watched as Arias pulled out a flask that she remembered him drinking from often. It appeared empty and that suspicion was confirmed as he opened himself up and bled into the small container, the blood hitting the bracelet before it filled the flask to the brim. He capped it and handed it to Lasc.
Katastrophe knew he was saying something else, but her eyes were busy scanning the perimeter and she didn’t hear him until he invaded her mind. Her eyes locked with his, curiosity knitting her brow tightly together as to why he would not say such a thing aloud with the one piress they both trusted the most seated near them. She used that link to respond to him.
“I appreciate your offer of help, Arias, but I… I think I just proved myself. This isn’t a battle. This is a test. That vampire was the one I told you about, the one who turned me. There are strange things between us.” Oh, that was an understatement. “I do not think he will try and harm me again, but it would be in your best interest to leave quickly.”
If what she sensed was true, Mal was not playing games, but protecting his interests in Katastrophe. He’d found a new drug and was just learning that its source was one that could easily be replenished and savored. She knew him well enough to know that he wasn’t ready to take any chances of losing that. She was his drug.
Arias said goodbye to them both and walked away before disappearing in a burst of black flame.
“He is gone, Mal,” Katastrophe called out in a raised voice, knowing that he was likely eager to return to her side. Not because he loved her, but because he wanted more of her. She could sense that he was very near.
She turned to face Lasc as she stood. “Did you call Arias?” Katastrophe really didn’t think she had, but it would’ve made sense if she had. His blood always brought Katastrophe strength when she was weak. She wasn’t quite ready to accept that Arias had just been happening by.

I could feel the visitor, scanning the trees I continued my search… Before I could locate the unwanted vampire he stepped out of the forest across from me and approached the two ladies… "Your friend in the trees seems to be fond of playing games, someone should inform him that I am not.” He kneeled next to Kathryn… "I am not here to cause you more problems, Kitten. I was wandering thru this park when I came upon you very much by accident." I knew that was more a lie for me than for her… Nothing in this city was by accident… My eyes landed on Lasc… Someone asked him here… He said a few other things to Kathryn and then to Lasc… "Lascivious, you know that any attack on you is an attack on me. Call me if you need me. " Standing, he looked towards me, smiled an loving smile, turned back to Lasc and Kathryn... "Goodbye, for now." he turned and left… I let him go… It would be easier to let him leave, felling all smug and self satisfied… “He is gone, Mal,” Kathryn’s voice announced… Now it got interesting… Why would she want me to return? She turned and looked at Lasc “Did you call Arias?” Now I had a name to go with the face... Pulling my hands back in my pockets I walked back toward them…
[glow=blue,2,300]“Of course she called him… For all her talk earlier about my childer and how they ‘can’t fight their own battles’ and ‘have to have family come to their aid because they don't know how to fight back’… She is scared… Isn’t that right Lasc?”[/glow]
I held up my hand to cut off her response…
[glow=blue,2,300]“Don’t bother… I can see your fear, smell it even… It radiates from you… I have the feeling you are feeling very alone and powerless right now… I would feel sorry for you, IF I could feel sorry for anyone…”[/glow]
I stood a few feet from Lasc and Kathryn…
[glow=blue,2,300]“Be a good girl and give her to me, Lasc… Her pain tonight is only just begining… The beauty of it is, I now know you can save her anytime I need you to…”[/glow]

Lascivious watched as Arias bit into his wrist, letting his blood drip into the flask he always carried with him. She tried to get a good look at the flask to see if it was the one she had given him, but it was all but swallowed in his large hand. When it was filled, he capped it and handed it to her saying,
"Give her this, it will help heal her, and I suggest you teleport her somewhere safer for I fear that her friend will return as soon as I am gone."
Lascivious accepted the flask from him and stowed it in her inner pocket for safe keeping.
"Arias, thank you. I shall make sure she gets this when we are away from this place, safely hidden from the one who stalks her."
Looking up at Arias, Lascivious smiled at him, not letting him see how worried she was about him. She knew her brother could fight very well, he had proved himself to be a fine strong warrior in addition to being a good protector as well. He had her back and she had his. He showed this as he addressed her again.
"Lascivious, you know that any attack on you is an attack on me. Call me if you need me. "
She watches him walk toward the tree line, before he suddenly vanishes in a pillar of black flame. Turning to Kat she says,
"Well that is certainly impressive isn't it? I wonder if I could learn to do that? It certainly makes for a very dramatic exit."
“He is gone, Mal.”
Lascivious stared in stunned disbelief at Kat, shaking her head as though she wasn't hearing her clearly. In a venomous whisper she asked Kat,
"What are you doing??? Do you want him to finish the job? I knew it! You HAVE lost your mind. I think we should get out of here, get you home, or somewhere else, anywhere but here. you need time to recover, time to heal."
She heard Kat ask her a question as her mind raged at her sire for calling that thing out from his hiding spot.
“Did you call Arias?”
Lascivious shook her head in denial. Yes, she had certainly thought about doing so at one point, but had not acted on it as she didn't want to be viewed a coward for wanting help. She was after all a fully powered piress, more than capable of handling whatever he threw her way. There was no need to drag Arias into things.
"No Kat, I most certainly did NOT call Arias. Why? Didn't you think I could handle this without him? I may be your childe, and yes I have a lot to learn yet, but I am capable of defending both myself and you without his help. Arias happened by purely out of chance, not because I asked him to come."
Lascivious turned from Kat, hurt apparent in the way she held herself away from her sire. Spotting the male approaching them again she sighed deeply as she heard his cutting remark.
He held up a hand to forestall her response.
“Of course she called him… For all her talk earlier about my childer and how they ‘can’t fight their own battles’ and ‘have to have family come to their aid because they don't know how to fight back’… She is scared… Isn’t that right Lasc?”
“Don’t bother… I can see your fear, smell it even… It radiates from you… I have the feeling you are feeling very alone and powerless right now… I would feel sorry for you, IF I could feel sorry for anyone…”
Lascivious stood up and faced him, anger pulsated off her like the sun radiated its deadly light. In a scathing tone she told him,
" I did not call him. I certainly do not need my brother to fight my battles for me. I am more than capable of doing so on my own in spite of what YOU or Katastrophe here may think. As for how I am feeling, I can assure you fear of YOU or anyone else isn't even in the equation at this point, I am anything but powerless make no mistake about that! I am glad you cannot feel sorry for anyone, because I would hate to have you misplace your feeling on me."
“Be a good girl and give her to me, Lasc… Her pain tonight is only just begining… The beauty of it is, I now know you can save her anytime I need you to…”
Lascivious laughed scornfully at him as she moved closer standing almost toe to toe with him. As she shoved her finger into his face to stress her words.
"You had your chance once already tonight. I offered her to you, YOU refused. That is YOUR problem. She is not mine to give to anyone, I know that now. I'll not make the mistake of offering her to you again, she is more than capable of thinking for herself now that she is conscious again. You want her, you figure out a way to get her. But don't think I won't put up a fight if you try to do so."
