Lascivious’s rage became a pounding in Katastrophe’s head and she put her hand to her forehead in an attempt to stave off the pain. She couldn’t even bring herself to interject, still feeling somewhat weak as Mal came forth and the conflict between her childe and her original sire continued. Katastrophe moved over to a picnic table just a few feet from them and sat on the bench, facing away from the table so she could watch the verbal onslaught. She wasn’t even going to respond until something Mal said snapped her to attention.
“Be a good girl and give her to me, Lasc… Her pain tonight is only just begining… The beauty of it is, I now know you can save her anytime I need you to…”
He said it as if the two of them somehow owned Katastrophe, like she couldn’t think and act for herself. She opened her mouth to say such but Lasc beat her to it, laughing.
"You had your chance once already tonight. I offered her to you, YOU refused. That is YOUR problem. She is not mine to give to anyone, I know that now. I'll not make the mistake of offering her to you again, she is more than capable of thinking for herself now that she is conscious again. You want her, you figure out a way to get her. But don't think I won't put up a fight if you try to do so."
Well hell, they were arguing about it as if she wasn’t standing there, but laying in a bassinet somewhere. She had half a mind to displace out of there and let the two of them continue fighting of her like some coveted toy. But this needed to stop and she was the only one who was going to be able to do it.
“Lasc, I think it’s time you leave.” She gave her childe a very pointed look. She loved her dearly, but she was picking an unnecessary fight. Besides, as it was, she wanted the safety net that Mal was setting up to be gone. Katastrophe needed him to understand that it wouldn’t always be up to someone else to save her if he was unable to pace himself. God, what was she thinking? She shook her head at herself. Why did she want to set herself up like this? She wasn’t going to get a damn thing out of this setup. He had yet to make any substantial offer of any kind. With that thought in mind, she mustered all the strength she had and walked over to stand in front of Mal, intentionally invading his comfort zone, her chin tilted up so she could see his face. It occurred to her that Lasc was still standing there and she considered displacing her, but she’d try once more, calmer.
“Lasc, please go.” Her eyes never left Mal, she didn’t even turn to look at her childe. “Mal and I have things to discuss and I don’t wish you to be present.” She almost reached out to touch him, but balled her hands in fists at her side to keep from doing what her body so readily wanted to.
