Nemesis gave a sigh and looked at the neatly organized letters on her desk. Finally, everything was in order. In one envelope was a set of keys to Mahorela Manor, labeled for both Elektra and her husband Seppuku. They were always welcomed guests at the Manor and now they could come and go as they pleased. She read over the brief note to them.
My Dearests,
Here are keys to the Manor; they should open almost every door and secret place. I give them to you with love, as I love having you both stay with me. Though not bound by blood, you are both my childer.
All my love
Nemesis
Nemesis smiled, resting the note back in the envelope with the keys. She picked up the other envelopes and left her office, stopping to leave Elektra and Seppuku's envelope on the table next to room the couple shared when they stayed. `Their' room. It held special meaning in Nemesis' cold unbeating heart to have them with her.
The next envelope her eyes fell upon as she walked was labeled Yggdrasil. Inside was her letter to her clan mates explaining her actions. She didn't NEED to explain anything, but she loved and respected them all, even the quiet ones, and felt they should know her intentions. She would post the brief letter in the clan halls when she'd finished up her other activities for the night.
Another envelope was labeled for Marus. He was a pain in the ass, but AdaMaS had charged him with looking after Nemesis and Mahorela Manor in his absences and slumbers. Marus would no doubt ignore Nemesis' letter and follow her around regardless, for that was the task he was charged with and he was forever loyal to his Masters word. The note simply said, written in crow's blood `die you little stinkweed'. He would feel left out if he didn't receive something, Nemesis bemused.
Nemesis then shimmied into her light hooded jacket, leaving Mahorela Manor for the next few hours. She had decided the last of her letters would be placed in the RBC Hall. From there the local newspapers would probably catch wind of it, if it even matter to anyone to begin with. She never was a very social `piress. She was much too busy most of the time. She teleported to the hall, going in and looking at some of the other notices and whatnot on the boards. Nothing interesting was happening in the city.
Nemesis had finally, after almost, but not quite 7 long years, achieved all she had set out to do.
She smiled as she relived those memories, from her turning, to the present.
She had led a clan, she had defied an icon, she had fought in countless wars, and she had succumbed to torpor once, resting and rising renewed. She had spied, she had taught, she had counseled, she had laughed and cried and she had grieved for those lost to her. She had shared friendships with some of the finest vampires in this dark city.
However, the years were long. This last skirmish with the shadow huggers nearly did her in with boredom. She no longer wished to wait for orders, no longer wished to wait as targets cowered in shadows, no longer wished to abide by protocols and rules.
She had fought her last war. It was time now, to roam where she pleased, gaining wealth and the blood of tempting strangers along the way. It was time to say good bye and good night to the politics of the city, and time to renew friendships and travel around, sometimes traveling far from home. Something deep within her cried for freedom from the bonds of politics and protocols. She'd honor only the bonds she'd see fit to honor.
It was time for Nemesis' retirement and she knew it. She smiled. She looked forward to it. She looked forward to nothing holding her back from doing what she wished to do, and roaming where she wished to roam. She would travel, and she would enjoy herself far from clans and wars and protocols and politics.
She opened the envelope containing the letter announcing her retirement. She read her own words carefully; making sure everything was in order. It was brief and to the point.
To whom it may concern
After nearly 7 years in our lovely city, I have decided to retire from all things political. I'll fight no wars, nor start any. I want no part of anyone's drama; nor shall I be the creator of any drama. I wish to simply travel along, gaining wealth and blood, visiting old friends and the like. I'll take no part in any clan actions. I simply wish to have my own travels and adventures from this point on.
Thank You

She tacked the notice to a bulletin board; satisfied it would be seen by anyone who may take interest. In a week it would no doubt be forgotten and covered over with some new announcement or advertisement, such was the way of Ravenblack City.
She moved to the bar, ordered a shot of tequila, smiling before kicking it back and leaving the hall for her last stop.
The nights were hers now.
